About The Role

Fixed term
Working hours and days: 7 hours, two weekday evenings, 5-8 p.m. (not Thursdays)

Location: Greenhouse Sports Centre, 88 Bell Street, NW1 5NS

This is an exciting new project for Place2Be with the inspirational partner charity, Greenhouse Sports, which extends our reach beyond school to engage young people (aged 5-18 years) in a sports setting. We are seeking an experienced counsellor to provide complimentary mental health interventions (Place2Talk “drop-ins”, one-to-one counselling, group work) to children and young people who are part of the vibrant Greenhouse after-school table-tennis club via face-to-face delivery as part of a dedicated team of professionals

As Place2Be Counsellor, you will effectively cover and manage all aspects of the Place2Be service provision on site at the sports centre in partnership with Greenhouse Sports, ensuring that young people are provided with early intervention, therapeutic and emotional support in a manner which they can safely access, to manage a range of life issues.

The position would be ideal for practitioners who have worked previously with multi-disciplinary teams, in a youth club or sports setting, supporting a diverse community.

This all-year (including school breaks) position is focussed on delivery within a 7-hour working week, spread over two evenings (5 - 8 p.m.) which is adapted to the sports centre setting. There is a generous annual leave allowance to be booked within school breaks.

Some of the areas of responsibility:

  • Understanding of working with young people who require or would benefit from emotional and therapeutic support and experience within a community environment
  • Assessment and Formulation process for young people referred to the service.
  • Undertake group work and one-to-one clinical work with children and/or young people.
  • Build, develop and maintain effective professional relationships with sports club coaches and referrers to deliver Place2Be’s model of counselling and therapeutic support.
  • Identify and report any safeguarding and child protection concerns following Place2Be’s policies and procedures and report through appropriate community channels, in accordance with Place2Be and Greenhouse Sports policy
  • Identify and report any safeguarding concerns about any vulnerable adults following Place2Be’s policies and procedures.
  • When required, make recommendations and consult with the relevant stakeholders and sports centre leaders for referral onto external services.
  • Attend multi agency disciplinary meetings as appropriate to support therapeutic intervention work and onward referral signposting

Reporting evaluating and data entry

  • Provide termly/quarterly reports to Place2Be guidelines and, in conjunction with your line manager, undertake an annual review of the service and produce a report to be shared with the sports centre Link and commissioners.
  • Using data to inform practice and improve impact.
  • Accountable for inputting data on Place2Be’s database and relevant Greenhouse Sports data platforms relating to all activities and interventions in the setting in a timely and accurate manner
  • Comply with Place2Be data entry requirements.

For a career with purpose, this is your place.
