Place2Be is seeking a qualified and experienced counsellor/psychotherapist to join our Level 4 Diploma Tutor team. This role combines teaching, clinical oversight and student support, helping trainee counsellors apply learning within school-based placements outside of our Partner Service Delivery model. You will play a vital role in supporting trainees to develop safe, ethical and effective counselling practice, bridging classroom learning with real-world application and contributing to the development of the children’s mental health workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Support trainee counsellors to apply the Level 4 Diploma curriculum within school-based placements
- Provide weekly clinical supervision, mentoring and tutorial support (online and in-person)
- Guide trainees in maintaining safe, ethical and professional counselling practice
- Liaise with schools, safeguarding teams and internal stakeholders to manage placements and risk
- Assess student work, contribute to evaluations (e.g. vivas) and attend standardisation activities
- Support recruitment of new trainees through interview and assessment processes
- Contribute to programme meetings, supervision and continuous development of the curriculum
What You Will Need
- Qualification in counselling/psychotherapy at Level 4 or above
- BACP accreditation or UKCP/HCPC registration
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working therapeutically with children in a school setting
- Experience supervising or supporting trainee counsellors (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of child development, mental health and counselling approaches
- Experience managing safeguarding and clinical risk
- Ability to build effective relationships with schools and multi-agency partners
- Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-oppressive practice
- Confidence using IT systems including Microsoft Office and online platforms
