About the Role
As a Safeguarding Officer, you will be a vital part of the Safeguarding Team at Place2Be, playing a key role in supporting the organisation’s commitment to safeguarding children and promoting positive mental health outcomes. You will deliver safeguarding training to all Place2Be staff and volunteers, working across regional and head office teams, ensuring safeguarding best practice is consistently understood and applied.
You will also provide high‑quality safeguarding advice, support, and guidance to Place2Be school‑based staff in relation to child protection and safeguarding concerns. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will support robust decision‑making and effective responses to safeguarding cases, helping staff feel confident and supported in their safeguarding responsibilities.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about children’s mental health and wellbeing, with extensive experience providing safeguarding and child protection advice to professionals working with children, young people, and families. You will bring a thorough understanding of current safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and child protection thresholds, alongside experience of developing and delivering training and/or seminars to multi‑agency professionals.
Please note this role is hybrid with 2 days per week in our London Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert safeguarding and child protection advice, guidance, and support to staff and volunteers
- Monitor, review, and oversee safeguarding concerns and cases to ensure timely and appropriate action is taken
- Support the consistent implementation of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures across the organisation
- Develop and deliver safeguarding training to staff and volunteers, adapting delivery to meet the needs of different audiences
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to fulfil safeguarding duties and statutory responsibilities
- Act as a regional safeguarding link, attending meetings and providing clear updates on safeguarding and child protection matters
- Support safeguarding induction, onboarding, and refresher processes for staff and volunteers
- Contribute to safeguarding practice relating to both children and vulnerable adults, with an understanding of the links between safeguarding and mental wellbeing
About You
You will have:
- Significant experience working in a safeguarding or child protection role
- A strong commitment to children’s mental health and wellbeing, and an understanding of how safeguarding and mental health intersect
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice
- Experience providing safeguarding advice, guidance, and case oversight
- Confidence in developing and delivering safeguarding training to diverse audiences
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to offer appropriate professional challenge in a supportive manner
- Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail
- The ability to work sensitively, calmly, and professionally when managing complex and emotive safeguarding issues
- Strong teamworking skills and enjoy contributing to team discussions and actively engaging in learning and development opportunities
